Marsala, Italy.
This coastal city on the far western point of Sicily is known for the wine that bears the same name. And now Pantone Inc, the company behind the color matching system used through out the printing industry, has added to the city’s enduring legacy. On December 4th, Pantone announced ‘Marsala’ as color of the year for 2015. Inspired by the rich, earthy hue of the wine from that region, you can expect to see popularity in this bold color rise as the year goes on.
As Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said regarding the announcement, it’s “hardy, robust, satisfying, fulfilling. At the same time there’s a certain glamour that’s attached to this color.” Check out more information regarding the color Marsala here: http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21163
