Want discounts on prints? Try the CatPrint Referral Program!

Everyone wants to save money, and CatPrint wants to help you with that!

If you didn’t already know, CatPrint has a Referral Program.

What exactly does that mean?

In a gist, it means that for every new customer you refer to CatPrint, you earn $10 in printing, and so does the new customer!

If you refer 10 new people to CatPrint and those 10 people place an order, you earn a total of $100 of printing! That means everyone is a winner!

Just to break it down for you in better detail:

Step 1:

Bad news for new customers: As a restriction, the CatPrint Referral Program applies to existing customers only. This means that if you are a new customer who has yet to place an order, you cannot sign up to be a referrer.

Good news for existing customers: You will be fine! You can get your referral link here.

Step 2:

Share your referral link anywhere & everywhere. You can post your referral link on all social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, DeviantArt, and any other social media platform that allows you to post a referral link.

If you would like, you can also post it on your blog, text message your friends, or send it through email.

Step 3:

After someone uses your referral link to get to CatPrint and places their first order, the new customer will receive a $10 coupon for printing.

Step 4 & 5:

After the new customer places an order, you will also receive a $10 coupon for printing!

That means both parties receive $10 in printing, creating a win-win situation!

CatPrint Walkthrough: Part Three – Printing and Color Maintenance

If you have been following our CatPrint Walkthrough series, this is the third part!

In the first part, we talked about what happens in Customer Service Pre-Press. In the second part of the series, we talked about what happens in Production Pre-Press!

Read on to find out what happens during the third part of the ordering process:

Once your jobs are screened and pre-pressed by both Customer Service and Production, they are added to the print queue in the order of what needs to be printed and shipped by which day. This is how we can offer guaranteed delivery dates.

After the jobs are prioritized, we load up the paper trays and begin sending jobs to the printer. The iGen runs optimally with limited cool-downs. Therefore, we have 6 different paper trays for the printer, allowing for efficiency and consistent print quality.

To ensure that the prints will match the colors within your file as closely as possible, we run color maintenance twice per day, once 8:00 AM and then again at 3:00 PM. This is an automated process that is completed right through the printer’s software.

CatPrint Walkthrough: Part Two – Production Pre-Press

In the first part of our CatPrint Walkthrough series, we talked about what happens when you place your order.

If you want to know what happens to your order after it is pre-pressed in Customer Service, read on:

After jobs are pre-pressed in Customer Service, they are sent to the Production Queue and go through a second quality check. During this step, a Production Specialist will look for any job comments added to the order, and will make sure the comments are noted. If there are any questions or concerns about your print job or your files, Production places the job on hold. When a job is held, Customer Service contacts the customer about the question or issue. If everything looks good, the job is then sent to print.

The Basics of Setting Up Social Media Profiles for SMBs

Social media and internet: Thank You!

Thanks to social media and the high-speed of the internet, information is travelling faster and further than ever! This means that even if your business is in California or New York, someone in the UK might just happen to learn about your business!

It is really important that as a Small Business Owner, customers can find you on every popular social media platform such as Facebook and Twitter.

This is all completely for your benefit! Not only can current customers communicate with you, but you can also reach out to your potential customers, too.

Social media = brand awareness across the world wide web

Many people who are completely committed to only the traditional form of advertising believe that social media is a waste of time for businesses to spend on, but that is not true.

Being on social media creates brand awareness so that more people will know about your business.

If people talk about your company on the internet, it is more likely that people will know about your business. That means more potential clients and customers for your business! And who doesn’t want that?

It is never too late to start!

If you feel like it is too late to even start creating a social media following for your business, there is something that you should realize.

CatPrint was once an unknown small business on the web. But here we are now, with presence on just about every social media platform there is out there, and we are going to tell you how you can also help your business do the same!

“But I will never be as popular…”

Let’s just make one thing absolutely clear.

It is not a popularity contest.

Social media is not a popularity contest, and it is very important that you do not think of it that way.

Why is that?

What is better to have?

Scenario A:

10,000 followers that never engage with your company, or will probably never buy anything from you

or

Scenario B:

1000 followers who are loyal customers, talk about your company to other potential customers, and actually interact with you on social media

The right answer?

Hopefully you chose Scenario B!

Just as a reminder: creating a social media profile on any of the following platforms is completely free. However, advertising is not: that is something for you to decide on.

Now let’s get started!

Social Media Profile Essentials

Facebook LikeFacebook:

Make sure that you have a Facebook Page for your business instead of a regular Facebook Profile. If you are your business, such as let’s say, a freelance Graphic Designer or a Wedding Planner, you need to also have a Facebook Page in addition to your regular profile.

How do you tell the difference between a Facebook Page and a Facebook Profile?

Facebook Pages allow the public to “Like”, comment, and post to your business versus having to friend request first. It is also important to note that on Facebook Profiles, after having 5000 friends, Facebook won’t allow you to add anymore people.

A plus about Facebook is that you can schedule as to when a pre-made post will get posted. This means you can set up multiple posts in one day that will post in future dates!

Why use Facebook?

Facebook is the number one social media platform today! Only very few people aren’t on Facebook. This means that you can reach a wider audience if you decide to use Facebook Ads.

What are Facebook Ads?

There are a couple of ways that you can use Facebook for advertising and promoting your business.

Promote your Facebook Page: This is to help drive traffic and get more likes on your Facebook Page.

Promote your website: This is using Facebook to get people to go to your business website. This is essentially a Cost Per Click ad like on Google Adwords.

“Boost” a post: This is promoting a post that you have posted so that more people see it, essentially to get more likes and clicks.

Google and YoutubeGoogle+:

Your business should be searchable by people using Google, and Google should also know the physical address of your business. If you haven’t already, get your business on Google and get verified! This way, if you are a local business, when people look up your business on Google Maps, they can find you automatically by just typing your business’s name.

https://www.google.com/business/

Besides Yelp, Google is one of the top places for reviews. If your business is getting reviews through Google, that means your business website will also be getting more traffic and get ranked higher when people are searching for a business that they need!

When you place your business on Google+, it will also automatically create a YouTube Channel for your page!

Advertising through Google:

You can use Google to advertise if you visit www.google.com/adwords.

There are so many possibilities when you advertise through Google, whether it is through Display Ads, Mobile App Ads, Youtube Ads, or keywords!

You can view CatPrint’s Google+ Page here:

PinterestPinterest:

If you don’t use Pinterest yet, you can sign up for a business account!

If you already have a Pinterest account, you can also convert your account into a Business Account!

Although it definitely has a diverse community of users, Pinterest is probably one of the best social media platforms for your business to reach women. Statistically speaking, users who do use both Facebook and Pinterest are more active on Pinterest than Facebook.

Pinterest also recently launched their advertising segment which allows businesses to promote pins! It is also a Cost per Click promotional advertising.

Twitter BirdTwitter:

Possibly one of the most rapid forms of transmitting information on the web is by tweeting through Twitter.

https://business.twitter.com/

Something we have seen at CatPrint is that a lot of customers will reach out for customer support through Twitter, or even talk about your business (which is usually a good thing)!

Twitter also offers an advertising platform if you visit https://ads.twitter.com/, which is similar to Facebook’s advertising platform.

You can:

Promote your website: Similar to Cost Per Click advertising

Promote your tweets: More people will see your tweets!

You can view CatPrint’s Twitter here:

InstagramInstagram:

Why Instagram?

Instagram is one of the trickier social media platforms use for your business, especially if you feel that you have no pictures to post. But don’t worry; Instagram makes it easy to add filters and transform simple pictures into something more vibrant!

Who is on there?

The Instagram audience tends to have interest in behind the scenes shots & videos of the businesses that they work with. The trend today is that consumers want to know who they are buying products and services from!

https://business.instagram.com/

Instagram also offers advertising options, and is essentially more like Facebook’s post “boosting” so that more people would see your post. This is good for brand awareness!

Understanding Flip Styles for Printing with CatPrint

If you have been a regular customer at CatPrint for a while, you might have noticed we made a slight change to our order builder page. The “Flip Style” option has been moved and reworded. Don’t worry though, these changes have been made to make the ordering process less confusing!

Where did the “Flip Style” check box go?!

The flip style option is now located under “Finishing Options” and automatically defaults to “Flip Left To Right.” In most cases, you will not need to change it from the default option.

When should you use “Flip Left To Right?”

“Flip Left To Right” should be used in most cases, and our system automatically defaults to it. Whenever you have a 2 sided print and you want the text to be right side up on the back when turned over from side to side, you should select “Flip Left To Right.” View our YouTube video below:

When should you use “Flip Top To Bottom?”

Sometimes you may need your card to flip top to bottom like a business card on a Rolodex, or a calendar instead of flipping from left to right like a postcard or invite. View our YouTube video below:

As always, if you have any questions, please contact Customer Service at 877-228-7768 or support@catprint.com!

Tips on Creating a Booklet Order with CatPrint

We understand that creating a booklet order might be a little scary, especially if you’re not familiar with the CatPrint website. After all, it’s not everyday that you get a booklet printed and put together, right?

What are your options for creating a booklet order with CatPrint?

Printing with CatPrint means that you have endless possibilities on just exactly what can happen with your project, and that might be a bit overwhelming for some people. Here are a few scenarios that CatPrint usually sees happen with booklet orders, and we will do our best break it down for you.

As you know, printing with CatPrint means that you can print in custom sizes, but we also have recommendations!

Scenario A:

Having the same paper stock throughout the entire booklet, including the cover.

Maybe you just want to have the same stock throughout the entire booklet project.

We often see this when printing Restaurant menus. When printing menus, we recommend a UV Gloss or Plastic Stock as this allows the menu to last much longer.

Scenario B:

Outside: Cover Stock

Inside: Letter Paper

We see quite a lot of people get confused about Scenario B.

You have to set up two different jobs within the same order: one for the cover stock, and one for the letter paper.

Please make sure that in the comments section, with is located right under where you choose your delivery speed, you state that “this is the cover” and “this is for the inside”. We review all comments before they are sent to print, but you should, too!

What types of booklet binding does CatPrint offer?

Currently, CatPrint offers 3 types of binding:

1. Saddle Stitch: This binding option keeps your pages securely attached using staples.

Good For: Medium Letter Paper – Up to 10 Leaves of Paper

Heavy Letter Paper – Up to 8 Leaves of Paper

2. Spiral Bound: One of the more popular forms of binding, this option uses a plastic coil to secure the pages.

Good For: Up to 180 Pages of Letter Paper

3. Wire Bound: This is very similar to spiral bound booklets, but the wire bound option is made of a strong wire coil.

Good For: Up to 50 sheets of letter paper

Although Spiral Bound and Wire Bound definitely allow you to create a booklet, we do have certain advisories on the maximum number of letter papers that are inside the booklet. You can always contact Customer Service if you’re unsure, or receive a hard copy proof before receiving your order!
